Overview

Why Do Companies Advertise Their Products?

Advertising is any form of sponsored communication from a well-known sponsor or source that draws attention to ideas, commodities, services, or the sponsor. Advertising targets groups rather than individuals, and it is frequently broadcast on television, radio, newspapers, and, increasingly, the Internet. Impression counts are routinely used to measure the effectiveness of advertisements (the number of times a consumer is exposed to an advertisement).

Despite the changing landscape, advertising remains at the core of many organizations’ strategies for communicating the right message to customers and prospects.

The Purpose of Advertising

Advertising has 3 main goals: to inform, to persuade, and to remind:-

  • Informative advertising boosts awareness of a brand, a product, a service, or a concept by announcing new products and projects, it can enlighten consumers about the characteristics and benefits of new or existing things.
  • Persuasive advertising aims to persuade customers that a company’s services or products are the best, and it aims to change attitudes and improve a company’s or product’s image. Its focus is to attract clients to switch brands, try a new product brand, or stick with a current one.
  • Reminder Advertisement reminds consumers of the necessity for a product or service so that they stick to it, as well as the advantages and benefits they would receive if they buy it right away.
